Our Mission

John E. Walus retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-two years of active duty service. Most notable among his numerous command and staff assignments was his participation in Operation Desert Shield/Storm and his two tours with the 82d Airborne Division. His awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit; Bronze Star; Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Master Parachutist Badge.

After retirement from the U.S. Army LTC(R) Walus attended Law School at Wayne State University continuing to work full-time by day with the Kitch law firm in Mt. Clemens, MI and attending class at night. After graduation John was retained by the firm and rapidly gained experience in premises liability, no-fault, probate/estate planning, medical malpractice, and criminal defense.

John became Counsel to the Warsh, Alpert & Alpert Law Firm where he continues today providing competent legal assistance to Veterans in their pursuit of service connected disability benefits.

John also has an office in Mt. Clemens and practices Veterans Law, Probate and Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts, Guardianship and Conservatorship, and a General Practice portfolio.

LTC(R) Walus is Bar Admitted in the State of Michigan, U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan, U.S. Court of Appeals Veteran’s Claims, and the Court of Appeals for Federal Claims. John is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Macomb County Bar Association, the National Organization of Veterans Advocates (NOVA), and the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ). He has been involved with the Macomb County Veterans Treatment Court since its’ inception in 2011. He served as the Mentor Coordinator for 6 years, the Treasurer for the Friends of the Macomb County Veterans Treatment Court for 6 years, and has served as the President for the last 5 years.
